Hydration and Dark Spots | Abib Dark Spot Collagen Wrapping Mask Review

After Medicube ruled the game with their overnight collagen mask, it’s no surprise other brands are starting to tag themselves in. Abib has risen to the challenge, with their new wrapping mask, designed around their brightening glutathione skincare line. But it dictates that it can deliver the same hydration, in just 30 minutes. Is it possible?

Abib is a skincare brand that demands perfection from its products. Designed with an iconic minimalist packaging, Abib has prided itself on creating gentle, innovative products – from its cooling heartleaf line, Jericho rose and plumping hydrogel masks. It delivered a new glow this year, with it’s Glutathiosome line – rich in glutathione, niacinamide and vitamin C. Gentle, hydrating and glowy; it’s been a popular line for Abib and one they are proud of.

We were excited to see a wrapping mask from this line (although surprised at Abib tossing their hat in the ring). 2025 has been a year of innovation for the brand – releasing not just a Glutathiosome wrapping mask, but also a Jericho rose wrapping mask. But this wrapping mask was not just rich in brightening and lifting agents but also infused with plumping peptides that help reduce fine lines and hydrate the skin.

This made it a dual treatment, to hydrate and refresh dull skin and create a natural lift – making it a double threat and much more exciting product to test. So, does it help provide a plumping effect and natural glow? All in 30 minutes (as it says on the container)? And how does it rival that of its Medicube equal? Let’s test it out!

What's in the Bottle?

Niacinamide: brightening vitamin B3 that helps lift dark spots, even skin tone and infuses a famous K-beauty glow for an all-day healthy shine.

Algin extract: hydrating algae extracts that gives the mask its jelly texture. Helps cool skin, moisturize and calm redness and irritation for a refreshed finish.

Japanese goldthread plant extract: rich in antioxidants and soothing, this plant helps calm irritated skin, protect against UV damage and even help reduce acne (making it an all-round benefit for all skin types).

Glutathione: a natural lightening agent that helps lift dark spots and tone up skin, treating melasma and PIH.

Hydrolyzed collagen: broken down fragments of collagen, which help supply skin cells with ingredients to build up new proteins and collagen molecules. Provides rich hydration and firms skin.

Adenosine: stimulates skin barrier healing and triggers inner cell collagen production for improved elasticity and skin hydration.

Cyanocobalamin: cools redness and inflammation, whilst improving skin hydration and cell repair from within.

Vitamin C: skin’s most powerful antioxidant, that helps refresh and boost natural glow, for more youthful and stronger skin texture.

Acetyl Hexapeptide-8: relaxes facial muscles to reduce wrinkle depth and firm skin, for a naturally smoother complexion.

Copper Tripeptide-1/Palmitoyl-Pentapeptide-4/Palmitoyl-Tripeptide-1: triggers skin cell collagen formation to firm and plump skin from within. Naturally improves skin hydration and creates more youthful lines.

Who Should Avoid?

Abib is a skincare brand designed for sensitive skin with wholly gentle formulations. This mask does contain niacinamide, so when used with other high-concentration niacinamide products can lead to irritation. Although hydrating, it’s ideal for oily to combination skin types. Perfect for plumping and lifting fine lines.

The Results

On opening the box, I was quite excited to see it comes with a free applicator (as shown in the picture). It’s bigger than the Medicube bottles, giving a few extra uses than the alternative. It also has all those exciting plumping proteins – making it more likely to give a visible result quicker (and more prominent plumping effect than the Medicube mask).

Application was easy – it comes out as a thick, gold cream that sticks to skin well and having an applicator brush was helpful (although I mostly end up using my fingertips majority of the time). It had a quick dry time and was not occlusive – making it a great option at the end of the skincare routine to help products absorb. The key difference between the Abib mask and other wrapping masks, is that it’s development time is only 30 minutes – marking it as not an overnight mask.

I tested it both ways – to see if it really could achieve results in 30 minutes and if it could work as an overnight mask. It’s actually designed to peel off itself after some time, so even if you try to keep it on overnight, it will slowly come off your face. It leaves a glowy residue, that is easy to massage into skin and leaves a great shine. It was a nice cap to my skincare routine and after a week of using – it lead to that perfect lifted and plumping effect that peptides do.

As you can see, in just a few days there is an improved lift to my cheekbone and a warm shine to my skin tone. If you are after glassy skin; the combination of niacinamide, glutathione and vitamin C is a powerful one – put into a wrapping mask, creates a great effect. If you are a fan of the Medicube mask, this one is on the same level in terms of quality. It is, however, not usable as an overnight mask – but it works better for oily skin types.

I have acne-prone skin and this mask didn’t increase outbreaks or cause any irritation, making it a great choice if you are concerned about outbreaks. I would recommend it most for combination, oily skin types and acne-prone skin; especially to reduce dark spots and improve natural radiance. I believe the Medicube overnight mask is better for dry skin types, as you can use it overnight to seal in layers of skincare for a glassy wake-up.

Final Thoughts

The Abib wrapping mask is a high-quality, nourishing mask that made for a quick and beneficial treatment. I would highly recommend it for any dull skin types or to help reduce fine lines. It’s best suited for oily and combination skin types and designed to be safe for sensitive skin. It doesn’t work as an overnight mask – but I would definitely recommend as an evening skincare treatment to boost natural radiance.
