Softer, Smoother and more Hydrated Hair? | Elizavecca CER-100 Ceramide Protein Treatment Review

Hair care can be tough – and it can be expensive! Finding quality, affordable hair products can lead to a lifetime of smooth, perfect and shiny hair. Is Elizavecca’s CER-100 range the secret to establishing healthy soft hair? Rich in both ceramides and collagen, we put it to the test to see if it's the hair product for you!

Elizavecca is a long-standing quirky and fun K-Beauty company, most famous for their tiny pig designs which dominate a lot of their most famous products. From their famous Hell-Pore Gold Hyaluronic Hydrogel Eye Patches, to their refreshing Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask and their world-famous, most-painful-peel-pack the Hell-Pore Clean Up Mask. It is a cult favourite in Korea and they specialize in products that are simple, but effective and beloved.

Their hair range, the CER-100 (rich in collagen and ceramides) dominated the internet a few years ago, as a rising treatment that created an alternative to expensive salon treatments that people could use time and again and was affordable. This treatment is a mix of collagen and ceramide, designed to coat hair strands to boost hydration, shine and reduce frizz. So, is it worth it? Let’s test it out!

What’s in the Bottle?

Ceramide: helps seal hair strands to maintain moisture, for lasting shine.

Hydrolyzed collagen: coats outside of hair strands to seal frizziness, reduce friction and create a softness that you can feel to touch.

Hydrolyzed keratin: strengthens hair, repairs external damage to create softer strands that smooth into a uniform look.

Silk-extracted amino acids: essential nutrients to strengthen hair strands and provide thicker and more refreshed hair.

Oat extract: soothing grain extract that helps soften, moisturize and protect scalp to reduce itchiness and friction.

Panthenol: soothing vitamin B5 that soothes  and moisturizes your hair and scalp.

Tomato, Turnip, Carrot, Broccoli extracts: a vegetable blend that is rich in Vitamins A, B, C and E to improve both scalp health, prevent product build-up and enhance natural hair shine.

Who Should Avoid?

As a hair treatment, it’s generally a safe and easy addition to most people’s hair care routines. It’s best for hydrating or smoothing hair – so if you’re struggling with frizziness or rough hair, it’ll show the best results. If you have oily hair or dandruff – it’s not likely to be a beneficial treatment for you.

What are the Results?

I have dry, curly hair that often takes on the consistency of straw. I was looking for a hydrating treatment that could help smooth the frizziness and help with curl definition. So I picked up the Elizavecca CER-100 Collagen Ceramide Coating Protein Treatment, to see if it was the trick to boosting natural definition.

Here is my hair before use, with poorly defined curls and frizziness from the general day. Up close you can see the lack of unity in my hair, which comes from dryness and general damage, causing the curls to separate out.

Here is after two uses of the protein treatment. Instantly, my hair felt softer to the touch upon applying (similar to conditioners). But, excitingly, the softness lasting throughout the day, giving my curls a nice light touch. It also reduced frizziness to give a more defined curl – which in my book was a great success!

The protein treatment does have a light scent on applying, but no lingering smell in the hair. It comes in a small bottle (only 100ml), but the treatment is really effective in small amounts. I would absolutely recommend it if you have an event coming up and you want to boost your natural shine – a week or two of using this treatment before hand will help smooth and ready you for the day!

Final Thoughts

As a protein treatment, this product is quite strong! It has a quick effect – although its not long-lasting and won’t change your hair for the long-term. I’d absolutely recommend it to prep your hair for a special occasion or to help smooth damaged hair.
