Golden Hydration in Skincare | Petitfée Gold Neck Pack Review
Petitfée is a K-Beauty brand of gentle luxury, delivering premium products that are elegant and long-lasting. Their gold hydrogel line is one of their long-time favorites – complete with face masks, hydrogel eye patches and... neck masks? Having a dry neck is more common than you think – as it’s what’s known as a ‘flexor’ surface. Moving your head around all day and bending it to look at our phones creates more friction, more dryness and generally makes us more at risk at developing irritation and fine lines.
Our neck is an area that we often forget to cover – even as we give our face its pick of toners, serums and moisturizers. It’s vital to remember to give that love to our neck too (including sunscreen!) and Petitfée has thought of that. Hydrogel is a gentle, hydrating seaweed-based formula that applies deep hydration and healing to our skin barrier without the drippy effect of face masks. So, is it worth getting a hydrogel-specific mask for your neck? If you are struggling with dry skin and fine lines – it might just be what you need. Let’s put it to the test!
What's in the Bottle?
Chrondrus Crispus Powder: extracted from seaweed, this forms the cooling gel base of hydrogels and provides a great vehicle for the skin to absorb ingredients.
Rose flower water: rich in natural antioxidants, provides boosted skin healing and protection against environmental pollutants and damage.
Aloe extract: succulent extract that provides deep hydration to skin barrier, whilst soothing redness and irritation.
Birch Sap: strengthens and boosts skin barrier (using genetics!) to improve resilience, hydration and texture.
Gold extract: gold nanoparticles boost natural collagen production, whilst also lifting skin blemishes and dark spots for a brighter, more even skin tone.
Snail mucin: rich in hyaluronic acid and natural peptides, snail mucin is a great natural way to improve skin dryness, healing blemishes and boosting firmness.
Sodium Hyaluronate: natural water humectant that helps draw moisture into skin barrier for deep plumping and long-lasting hydration.
Hydrolyzed Collagen: fragmented collagen molecules that help seal skin barrier to boost moisture and hydration, for softer and firmer skin.
Avocado oil: rich in skin nourishing fatty acids and vitamin E to boost skin cell strength, heal skin barrier and improve skin appearance.
Who Should Avoid?
This neck wrap is pretty tame and has calming ingredients that should be fine for majority of skin types. Take care if you have any allergies or neck acne, as long periods of contact can lead to flaring and irritation. Potentially avoid using this mask if you have eczema or sensitive skin, as this mask contains fragrance and is not designed to be hypoallergenic friendly.
The Results
I am a big time fan of hydrogel masks – they are lightweight, cooling and give you a great infusion of ingredients. I also naturally have a dry neck, so I was part of the niche crowd interested in a neck-designed hydrogel mask. The box comes with 5 so for a weekly treatment, you get a good number of uses. I used the mask at the end of my evening routine, after a light moisturizer. The mask is a little hard to apply – but once it adheres and you have it in a good spot, it’ll hang on as long as you like (I was worried it might slip off or become bothersome).
Petifée specializes in carefully adherent hydrogel products – which hold in place well no matter where you put it on your skin (compared to other slidy eye masks that make spa-time a little tough). The neck mask has a large size, shaped like wings (which I liked) and sits naturally on your lower neck, with the ends wrapping higher, creating a ‘lifted’ effect.
As hydrogel masks do, it had a lovely cooling effect – but I was at first worried that it was not ‘that’ hydrating as the mask was almost dry to the touch. The packaging said to leave it for 10-15 minutes, but I kept it on for an hour to see the real effect. Above is the before and after and within that time – you can see an immediate change! The dry spot on my neck vanished and the lines slightly less deep. It was a great addition to a spa evening, especially if you get self-conscious about your dry neck like me.
Final Thoughts
While Petitfée may not be the only company to do gold hydrogels, they were absolutely one of the pioneers of it. It’s an easy way to feel a little luxurious in an evening and has a great effect, especially on irritated or dry skin. Their cacao eye patches are still my favourite, but if you are after a large, wrapping hydrogel pad – these are a great addition to any routine.
