Medicube PDRN Pink Caffeine Night Wrapping Mask Review | Glittery, Pink and Powerful

Medicube loves success and nothing has been more successful than their collagen overnight wrapping mask series, released last year. So, they’re back at it again with a glitter-ful formula that comes out hot pink and blends PDRN to hydrate and caffeine to brighten skin. Does it stand up to the hype? Let’s find out!

Medicube PDRN Caffeine Night Wrapping Mask Review

The Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask dominated social media for months – with the overnight treatment marked as the ultimate hydration for soft, radiant skin every morning. It made it all over the globe with great success, hype and it became the it product to try out. So, when Medicube released a night mask that matched their PDRN range, heads were turned. And it was not hard to spot – as the formula had been updated to a hot-glitter-pink.

So, exciting as a hot-pink face mask is, does it do anything? Is PDRN and caffeine a good combination? What skin type is this mask for (Medicube will only ever say for all skin types). Let’s discover and deep-dive on Medicube’s newest innovation.

What's in the Bottle?

The mask formula is full of a little bit of absolutely everything. From vitamins to amino acids to a little seaweed and rose – this formula is rich with skin-firming ingredients.

Niacinamide: no modern skincare product is complete without it! In the era where we love to glow, niacinamide lifts dark spots and infuses a natural shine that makes its users fall in love with it over and over.

Cyanocobalamin: if you were wondering where the pretty pink comes from, it’s always cyanocobalamin. Also known as Vitamin B12, it’s a powerful vitamin that calms inflammation, whilst improving skin barrier regeneration and health.

PDRN (salmon): fragmented DNA that absorbs into skin cells and stimulates regeneration and cell healing. Enhances healing pathways, collagen production and promotes rapid cell remodeling

Rosa Damascena Flower Oil: anti-inflammatory and rich in antioxidants to help smooth fine lines and protect against UV damage. Helps protect skin against environmental damage for lasting glow.

Cup of steaming coffee on a bed of coffee beans

Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C): reduces fine lines, stimulates collagen synthesis and refreshes dark spots for more even, firmer skin.

Caffeine: provides powerful antioxidants to protect skin barrier and improve function, whilst improving circulation for better skin tone and health.

Red Algae (seaweed): rich in polysaccharides and natural amino acids, which soften and refresh skin tone

Hyaluronic acid/Sodium hyaluronate: two molecules with similar mechanism of action. Draws water to it, so if carefully absorbed into skin barrier draws moisture into skin cells for plumping and long-term hydration.

Who Should Avoid?

Night wrapping masks are not a good treatment for acne-prone skin – as it essentially forms a cling wrap on your skin overnight, which can lead to blocked pores. So, if you are acne-prone or recovering from a break-out – this won’t be the ideal mask for you overnight.

This mask is ideal for dull or dehydrated skin – as that helps seal in nutrients and moisture for a longer period.

The Results

I tried out the sleeping mask a few times through the week – trying it out both as just an evening peel as well as an overnight peel. I have combination skin with dry spots and was excited to see the effect of the mask. Application is fairly easy, as the treatment clings well to skin and forms an easy seal. I was concerned that there wasn’t going to be much in the bottle, but you can apply a far thinner layer than what is shown on social media – still forming a good seal and giving you way more uses in the bottle. I would estimate from my use that there is about 20 uses in each bottle – which is more exciting than the ‘6’ that was estimated from online.

It dries quite quickly on your face, allowing a quick 15 minute application before bed and it doesn’t peel at the edges, which is good to sleep peacefully. I did get an itchiness around the edges of my nose, which drove me crazy – so I had to apply it higher on the bridge of my nose – but otherwise it was unnoticeable when dry.

In the before and after – there is no deep shine or glass skin appearance; but you can see the PDRN firming skin. It gave me a firmer cheek and a more defined cheek-bone, which was exciting in just a week of use (3 uses total). I think the most exciting part of this treatment was the super-charge it gave to my evening moisturizer. Without air-drying, the plumpness and firmness of my night-time routine was shining through.

Final Thoughts

If you are looking for a deep, radiant shine every morning – this mask alone won’t do it. This mask does have a good boost of PDRN if you are looking to firm and plump your skin and also creates a perfect seal for moisturizers to deeply absorb. It’s just not the secret weapon to deep glow as it was marketed as. I would absolutely recommend this for a girls night in, as a glittery hot-pink mask makes for a perfect cap to a home spa evening – or just for a bit of fun when you need a pick-me up.

It is a really fun addition to an evening routine and it doesn’t have to be used every night to have ongoing effects. If you are struggling with dryness or fine lines – adding your favourite moisturizer to your face, massaging carefully and capping it with this night mask will give you an immediate boost.
