Medicube AGE-R Booster Cleanser Head Review – Perfect for Acne Care?
Medicube has dominated beauty and skincare device sales across the globe. They worked hard on design and innovation to deliver maximal technology into the palm of your hand. This year, they launched the upgrade with the new AGE-R Booster Pro Mini Plus, which delivers 625% improved absorption of Korean beauty products, tiny design and 3 LED therapy settings to deliver deep glow and therapy to your skin. This exciting technology did not come alone, however, and was launched with two different skincare device ‘heads’ which gives the user far more options in their skincare journey.
As someone with acne-prone skin, I was incredibly interested in the release of the AGE-R Booster Cleanser Head. It’s a cover that fully encloses the Booster Mini Plus and transmits the EMS power of the device into a silicone brush head for deep pore cleansing. This device promises deep cleansing (with three different modes) that can be used while you shower. As someone who could not benefit as much from the Booster Modes, I was really excited to see what advanced technology ‘cleansing looked like.’
So, let's put the new Medicube AGE-R Booster Cleanser Head to the test and see if its truly safe for acne-prone skin and worth the investment for deep cleansing and toning.
The Science of the Medicube AGE-R Booster Cleanser Head
This device uses the Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) technology of the original device to deliver surface skincare, improve circulation and reduce pore size. Where the original device requires absorptive products to deliver the EMS benefits, this cleansing head allows you to tone up your face while you wash, making it a really cool addition to skin types that get irritated with the ‘absorption’ type of EMS.
Who Should Avoid?
No skincare routine, advice or product is truly for everyone and its important to always be careful. Although this device is a great addition for deep cleansing of pores, you should not use it if your have clinically significant acne.
There are very few (I'd argue no) products on the market for your acne if its affecting you significantly. Be safe and book an appointment with a GP or dermatologist, as this will be the best investment for your skincare going forward.
Otherwise, this device is safe for use in anyone who does regular skin cleansing, as it provides surface EMS and gentle silicon head cleansing for deeper pore care.
The Results
As mentioned above, I have sensitive acne-prone skin and have had limited success trialing absorption methods of EMS therapy. Using large quantities of products with the EMS stimulation of skincare devices often helps over-load my skin, increases the risk of irritation and has largely been unsuccessful.
So, having a different method of EMS (in this case using a cleanser) was really exciting. I wanted to see if I could tone up my face, without flaring up my acne. I started using the device once daily in the shower, either in the AM/PM when I remembered.
The device has multiple settings and works best when you add foam and water and lather it up well. It is a really powerful device and I only ended up using level 2-3 generally, with really intense effect you can feel deeply through skin layers.
It did not magically clear my acne up, but in just two weeks of use the toning of my face was incredible. I ended up using it with a soothing Purito Seoul gel cleanser, which really improved my skin hydration and helped balance oils. Using the cleansing head helped minimize my pores, create a more glassy texture and ensured I was employing a proper cleansing technique every time (it has an in-built 1 minute timer to ensure good cleansing without overuse.
The best part of the device, however is the toning benefits to your skin. Tracing the device over areas you wish to tighten (i.e. jawline, cheekbones, forehead) helps firm and boost skin tightness by training the facial muscles underneath.
I was super excited by the toning of my chin and jaw (as its become looser with age) and it makes my face look younger and more symmetrical. It provides a relieving massage that is quite addictive and the gentle bristles help lather up the cleanser well.
Final Thoughts
This device is a really cool addition to your routine (especially if you want to enhance your cleansing). It helps tone and firm skin without requiring absorbing agents (which can clog pores and is not as well suited to oily skin). It's a pricy device, but personally I've seen really great results with it and would recommend it to any oily skin fellow who wants to tone up fast!

FAQs - Medicube AGE-R Booster Cleanser Head
What is the Medicube AGE-R Booster Cleanser Head?
The Medicube AGE-R Booster Cleanser head is a device cover that is compatible with their AGE-R Booster Mini Plus (which was released this year). It has silicon bristles combined with EMS therapy that helps deeply refresh pores and improve skin circulation.
Is the Medicube Booster Cleanser head Good for Acne-Prone Skin?
Yes, this device is a great way to experience EMS therapy without the irritation that can come from deep-absorbing products. It helps deeply clear pores and remove impurities, whilst providing a gentle cleanse to the skin surface.
How does the Medicube Booster Cleanser Head Work?
It has two EMS probes that gently stimulate facial muscles and improve circulation. This is coupled with gentle silicon bristles that brush against the skin, lather foam and help deep pore contact for a softer (but deeper) cleanse.
Can You Use the Medicube Booster Cleanser Head daily?
It is safe for daily use, provided you are keeping your individual skin needs in mind. If you are noticing irritation to skin or your face is feeling too tight, try to limit use to 2-3 times weekly. Most users, however, especially with high product use or oily skin find it safe to use daily.
The device self limits to 1 minute of use to prevent risk of overuse.
Is the Medicube Booster Cleanser Head suitable for Sensitive Skin?
Provided you use the device with a gentle cleanser, this device is a great addition for a sensitive skin routine. You can use the bristles gently against your skin for foaming and pore cleanse, without scrubbing aggressively.
What Cleanser Should be Used with the Medicube Booster Cleanser Head?
This device is compatible with a range of cleansers (including gel cleansers, foam cleansers and oil cleansers). It's important, however to avoid use with exfoliating acids and harsh scrubs as this can be irritating with the EMS.
Pick a compatible cleanser that your skin loves and you can use for a longer period of time and apply either directly to device or to your skin.
Is the Medicube Booster Cleanser Head Safe in Water?
Yes, the device is designed to be used safely in water (such as during your face cleansing routine or in the shower. It can get safely wet, but should not be submerged for long periods of time to limit risk to the Medicube Booster Mini Plus inside.
Ensure your device is tightly sealed and there is no cracks in the device head to ensure safe use in water.
Is the Medicube Booster Cleanser Head Worth It?
This depends on your individual skincare goals. I would recommend it if you are looking to improve tone using EMS but are sensitive to using high levels of product with your skin type. Also, it's beneficial if you have oily skin or use a large amount of products (such as make-up or SPF) that requires deep cleansing to relieve.
