Deep, Shining Radiance | Petitfee Beautifying Glow On Hydrator Review
Petitfee was launched in 2007, to fulfill the wishes of its users with the powers of a ‘little fairy.’ Using dreamy and natural ingredients, they create skincare that holistically improves skin texture, while enhancing appearance. They rose to fame in South Korea for their hydrogel formulas, being one of the first in the market to use seaweed extract to create a rich jelly that could deeply infuse skincare ingredients. From caffeine to chamomile to snail – Petitfee has created some famous skincare products that help lift and shine.
What caught my eye from their line wasn’t these however, it was their combination of moisturizer, barrier cream and skin primer – in the form of the Beautifying Glow On Hydrator. Infused with a variety of exciting ingredients (from turmeric to sea buckthorn extract to moringa) - it was a vitamin-rich product held together with a gel finish. Looking for a smoother make-up glow, I was excited to test it out. The promises is that it hydrates your skin, improves your natural radiance and provides a clean slate for foundation to adhere to for a perfect finish.
Can it do it all? Let’s put it to the test.
What's In The Bottle?
Green Algae Extract: rich in antioxidants and moisture, this extract helps boost the lightweight, gel finish for the moisturizer as well as reducing redness and providing a cool touch to skin.
Neem Flower Extract: reduces bacteria and helps boost immune function, to improve redness and dry skin. Helps boost natural skin healing.
Sweet Marjoram Oil: infuses deep antioxidants to protect skin cells against environmental pollutants and stressors, whilst improving fine lines and youthful radiance.
Clary Oil: improves general nutrient circulation of cells to accelerate skin healing and also refresh skin irritation.
Turmeric: improves natural skin radiance and boosts collagen production within skin cells to enhance firmness, whilst helping improve skin health.
Lavender Oil: enhances skin healing and tissue formation for smoother, clearer and firmer skin. Helps calm irritated skin and redness.
Pine tree Oil: reduces acne-causing bacteria and refreshes skin barrier for a more moisturized, clearer and calmer skin biome.
Camellia Oil: floral extract that cools skin, improves hydration and stops inflammatory pathways that lead to irritation, redness and itching skin.
Sea Buckthorn Oil: vitamin-rich extract that helps soothe and moisturize the skin barrier, whilst also infusing antioxidants to repair and strengthen skin.
Evening Primrose Oil: enhances skin hydration and plumps skin for firmer, moisturized tone. Reduces water loss overnight to boost skin health and natural shine.
Ginger Root Oil: quickly reduces inflammation, fine lines and improves appearance of acne and scarring with a variety of active compounds that help refresh and stimulate skin.
Moringa Oil: helps moisturize and seal the skin barrier for refreshed and balanced skin, whilst also reducing acne-causing bacteria for more refreshed and healthy skin.
Ceramides: plumping molecules that helps to fill cracks in the skin barrier to repair and provide deep moisture to skin biome.
Who Should Avoid?
This light moisturizer is a great addition to a variety of skin types – it's light enough for oily skin types yet moisturizing enough (and forms a seal) that dry skin types would benefit. I wouldn’t recommend it for sensitive or very acne-prone skin, as it can contribute to irritation. The large number of essential oils can trigger acne breakouts in some, as well as irritate sensitive skin.
The Results
This moisturizer is deeply luscious and golden, sinking deeply into skin, yet leaving a protective barrier that is beneficial for both make-up and resting overnight. I have naturally oily skin and often get patchy or unnatural make-up on application, so was looking for an improved primer that I could use for a seamless application. What I didn’t realize, is that this works as a barrier cream – meaning you can use it overnight to help seal in other skincare products and wake up with more glowy, moisturised skin!
It’s a great little product (and inexpensive compared to other barrier creams), which tailors itself to either morning or evening routines. It provides a seamless moisture underneath makeup and the glowing effect is the best I’ve seen without niacinamide in it. I would highly recommend to any passionate make-up fans who are looking for a booster to their usual BB cream or foundation – although take care to blot foundation on top to keep layers intact.
Here is the before and after two weeks of using. The before is recovering from an acne outbreak - after which, my skin was generally improving. There was an improved glow to my skin and you can see the clear difference. The hydrator improved general moisture (I liked using it as an overnight moisturizer too), creates a great blur with make-up (the second picture has a very light layer of foundation).
Although I didn’t notice an increase in spots, I would caution those with reactive skin, as there’s an increased chance of outbreaks and irritation with the variety of essential oils in the product. I would easily recommend it to both oily and dry skin users – especially if you’re after a neat enhancer to your natural glow and love a good primer for make-up as it created an excellent blur.
Final Thoughts
Compared to a standard primer, this moisturizer is by far a better choice. It acts better, gives better coverage and blends seamlessly with foundation for a perfect finish – where as other primers don’t spread as easily or enhance the shine of foundation. I would absolutely recommend it to any users who are struggling with primers – especially if you are looking for a product that also seals your skin barrier, infuses vitamins and keeps your skin calm and moisturized.
