Pure Lifting Power | Skin1004 Matrixyl 10 Boosting Shot Ampoule Review
Skin1004 is a K-Beauty brand that believes in natural, simple and refreshing skincare. All their items contain centella asciatica, which improves skin healing, cools redness and boosts natural cell renewal for firmer and stronger skin. It was hailed in K-Beauty as the holy grail for skincare; due to its flexibility to refresh all skin types. With centella as a core – Skin1004 has developed a variety of products to rejuvenate and boost skin health and have been a big favourite of gentle Korean cosmetics. Stepping into the aged skincare sphere, Skin1004 has developed the Matrixyl 10 Boosting Shot Ampoule.
This light and creamy ampoule has been carefully designed to vanish fine lines with a three-tier approach; whilst also soothing and refreshing skin. The first, title ingredient is ‘Matrixyl 3000.’ This is a trademarked skincare ingredient which is enriched with a specialized peptide duo that triggers natural collagen production within skin cells, whilst also reducing irritation. This is boosted by the addition of Volufiline, which is a patented extract that helps boost fat production in skin cells to create a gentle, plumping effect for immediate reduction of skin lines.
The third boost to fine lines comes in the presence of spicules – which are little microneedles extracted from freshwater sponge. These tiny needles form ‘pores’ between skin cells for skincare products to absorb deeper and create greater lift from products. Not only that, spicules increase collagen deposition inside skin cells and boosts health through deeper stimulation.
With this trio in hand, a background of gentle centella and panthenol – it seems like this serum could be an unbeatable peptide boost. Let’s put it to the test!
What's In The Bottle?
This formula is rather straight-forward, with its core ingredients and then supportive hydrating agents and stabilizers to create a smooth, quick-absorbing ampoule.
Hydrolyzed Sponge: tiny needles that are broken into individual, tingling spikes that are invisible to the naked eye and absorb into skin to boost collagen production and skincare absorption.
Adenosine: hydrating agent that improves fine lines, vanishes dullness and stimulates inner collagen production to refresh and boost skin radiance.
Hyaluronic acid: plumping water humectant that helps draw water into the skin barrier for a lasting moisturized effect and glassy shine.
Volufiline (Anemarrhena Asphodeloides) extract: helps stimulate fat accumulation under the skin for immediate lifting of fine lines and reduced wrinkle depth. Helps immediately increase elasticity and refreshes skin appearance.
Matrixyl 3000: a carefully formulated solution of dual peptides that help lift fine lines, boost skin elasticity and improve collagen production within skin cells.
Madecassoside: improves skin healing and improves skin cell renewal for improved rejuvenation of skin cells. Also helps prevent dark spot accumulation and freckles.
Centella asciatica: gently moisturizing and soothing plant extract that helps cool redness, restore skin barrier strength and improve natural glow.
Who Should Avoid?
This formula is gentle and has a minimalized ingredient list, making it generally safe for sensitive skin types and useful for anyone looking to reduce fine lines. It will show best effect in individuals with fine lines. It shouldn’t be used in severe acne outbreaks as the spicules can irritate and spread spots.
The Results
I have a fairly balanced skin type with fine lines. I don’t really struggle with dry or oily skin – but am always looking for good products that help enhance skin health and reduce fine lines. This ampoule slotted into my daily routine easily and has been one of my favourite skincare products ever. It has a really gentle formulation that you can feel, which hydrates and cools skin – while you can feel the little spicules working as it absorbs.
It has a light, tingling effect – but it is far more gentle than other spicule products that I’ve used in the past. Within two weeks of using, you could see improvement to fine lines, enhanced skin hydration and it was a perfect evening ampoule to nourish and lift skin. I really had no downsides to it – other than it ran out faster than I was expecting (a 30ml ampoule tends to be used quicker than a serum due to the thicker consistency).
If you are looking for a skin lifting ampoule that balances skin health with reducing fine lines, this is a great addition to a skincare routine. The Volufiline only has a temporary effect; but coupled with the boosting peptides and spicules, makes for a really great skin treating ampoule. I would really recommend it for anyone or any skin type – although take care (as always) in really sensitive skin or acne.
Final Thoughts
I wish I had more negatives to say about this product (making for a more balanced review), but it genuinely is a quality, refreshing ampoule that can be used for all skin types and provides a deep, healing refreshment. If you need a boost to fine lines, firmer skin or a boost of hydration – this is the ampoule for you!
