Colors of Spring | How to Pick Your Make-Up Colors for Spring 2025

Being in the Southern half of the world, we're 6 months behind the Northern trends for Spring 2025! It's time to catch up! Break out the coloured eyeshadow palettes, berry lip tints and metallic body shimmer (yes, really) as we dive into the top trends of 2025 to have you looking cute, retro and prepared for any spring party.

Okay, Melbourne! Winter is finally leaving us, flowers are re-appearing and the birds are singing – it's time to prepare your brightest, most fun looks to celebrate spring. 2025 is the year of experimentation – there's been a lot going on this year, for a lot of us. It’s time to enjoy colours, get out and about and have some fun! We examine the trends (the good ones – we’re not about to recommend bad eyebrow looks, no matter how bad the world gets) and give you a snapshot of what’s trendy and what techniques you can try out!

Berry Lips

Berry tints are classic and have been around for a long time – but for a long time, people weren’t using hot colours (instead using a variety of nudes and bronzes). With brighter blushes and lip-colours, fashionistas are looking to enhance their features using berry-tinted lip tints, blushes and highlights. In Korean make-up – lip tints have been a staple, which is now spreading globally. It allows for a quick, bright pop of colour that goes atop your lips. And remember, berries are a vast variety - so think bright raspberries, cute strawberries and purple blueberries for the hottest colours.

Looking for a more versatile berry colour pop? We recommend the Fwee Blurry Pudding Pot range – which provides a bright colour that can be used on lips and cheeks alike, creating a versatile palette.

However you like it – it seems bold, fun lips are back in, so dust off your favourite lip colours and enjoy a berry-sweet smile.

Dual Blush Tones

Everyone is loving a high cheek look, accentuating the bone via using two tones of colour. Pick two colours for your cheek look – with a lighter, warmer colour for the top, which brushes slightly upwards and a deeper colour just underneath, to create a sharper look. It’s a quick application of colour and solid minutes of blending, blending, blending to create that perfect blurred look and cheek accentuation.

Colorgram Re-Forming Contour Stick Range

Our recommendation for good highlighting is through a product like the Colorgram Re-Forming Contour Stick range, which gives you both a light highlighter and a deep colour for depth in one stick.

  1. Colorgram Re-Forming Contour Stick 1 | Warm Tone
  2. Colorgram Re-Forming Contour Stick 2 | Cool Tone
  3. Colorgram Re-Forming Contour Stick 3 | Neutral

Don’t be afraid to use a rosy top colour – as warm tones are fully in for spring, embracing the warmth and colours of more nostalgic looks (right now known as ‘sunkissed’ blush).

Metallic Glows

Going out for the night? It’s time to bring out the glitter and glow – shimmering, glittery and bright looks are hitting the nightlife, with more dramatic, glowy and metallic looks that are not afraid to embrace cool blues and purples. Our favourite highlighters coming out has highlighted this deep shine – giving you a vibrant, austere look. Just be sure to only combine cool tones in your clothes and colour choices to avoid clashing.

Our favourite mystical and shimmery metallics in K-beauty include:

Colorgram Milk Bling Heartlighter ‘Bubbles Blue’
Fwee Glitz Stone Highlighter ‘Merry Aurora’

  2. Colorgram Milk Bling Heartlighter ‘Bubbles Blue’
  3. Fwee Glitz Stone Highlighter ‘Merry Aurora’

The Fwee Blue Highlighter especially has made a big fuss on its recent launch, creating ethereal and techno looks alike, to suit whatever vibe you’re shooting for.

Vibrant-Coloured Eyeshadow

For a long couple of years, most of the colours used for eyelids has been muted and often neutral-toned. 2025 has been a throw-back to calmer, kinder times (of the early 2000s) with brighter eye-palette choices – from aquamarine, to princess pink, to neon shades. It’s time to have a little fun with pops of colour – which is best matched with an otherwise neutral face. Picking a nude lip, bronze highlighter and bright blue eye shade that’s allowed to be messy and imperfect.

Our favourite eye-shadow palettes come from Colorgram this year, with a variety of fun ‘calculator’ eyeshadow palettes that can also be used as a highlighter, base, blusher and pop of glitter (just for fun!)

So, embrace some whimsy – try out some colour and have a little fun with your spring colours! We hope you made it through winter all ok and are ready to embrace some warm garden walks, teatime with friends and seeing baby critters out and about, looking your damn finest!

FAQs - Spring Make-up 2025

What Colours are Popular for Spring 2025 Make-Up?
In Australia, we are a little behind the seasonal trends as Northern Spring was 6 months ago. However, people are excited to put those global trends into practice – with berry-coloured hues (from lips to warm cheek colours). These are being used from warm powder blushes (as a 2000s throwback) and in dry lip tints coming with vibrant colours. People are also embracing colours in mascara and eye shadow – from hot pinks (Barbie-inspired), to bright blues (from eyeshadow to highlighters) to warm terracottas.

What Techniques are Popular in 2025 Make-Up?
There have been some fun new make-up techniques coming into play this Spring. We will outright ignore that people are doing ‘thin eyebrow’ looks again, as plucking your eyebrows can lead to permanent follicle loss (and you will be stuck that way forever – so avoid over-plucking!), but people are opting for more gentle and light eyebrow colours (less dark and bold). People are also using coloured mascaras, in place of the coloured eyeliners from last years – to add a pop. This comes with coloured highlighters – from neon blue, purple and pinks. This allows an all-over pop of subtle colour which embraces an ethereal, futuristic look.

How to Pick Colours for Spring Make-up 2025?
Although experimentation and fun is the point of make-up, if you are struggling to find colours that match you well, remember to match colours to your tone. If you have a warm hue to your skin, opt for warm berry colours from lips to cheeks for spring. If you have a cooler tone, opt for cold pinks and light blues for a fun, modern take on spring looks. Once you’ve found a great colour pop, remember to support it with similar tones (for clothes, jewelry and shoes) for a cohesive, bright look!
