Mary&May Collagen 1000 PDRN Cream Review – Targeted Treatment of Fine Lines
Mary&May provides the pinnacle of clean, nourished beauty, often with indulgent and rich botanical extracts that help enhance your natural glow. With a variety of famous skincare lines, one of their most beloved and popular is their purple Collagen Skincare Line. From their plumping Collagen Booster Lotion to their light Marine Collagen Serum, their products are beloved for providing a gentle and hydrating boost to fine lines. Their new PDRN cream takes this to the next level, with a mixture of soothing agents (vitamin E, shea butter, ceramides) with deeper acting agents (1000ppm spicules for microneedling, marine collagen and PDRN). This unique blend helps enhance the absorption of firming collagen through the skin barrier, whilst providing deeper absorption of rosy PDRN to enhance cell healing.
So, what are the benefits to this new targeted cream? Is it safe for sensitive skin? Does it create real-time effect? With a competitive market of microneedling ampoules, firming peptides and with everything now containing PDRN – does this cream stand out amongst the new releases? Let’s put it to the test!
What's In The Bottle?
Panthenol: nourishing and gentle vitamin B5 that helps strengthen skin structures, improve hydration and prevent irritation and redness.
Niacinamide: rich vitamin B3 that helps reduce dark spots and even skin tone for a deep radiance and glow.
Hydrolyzed Collagen: hydrating molecule that helps seal the skin barrier, preventing moisture lost and improving texture and firming skin.
Rapeseed extract: favourite botanical extract in K-beauty for its deep moisturizing properties, boosting antioxidants that help enhance cell healing and ability to reduce redness and irritation.
Vitamin E: protective emollient that helps improve moisture of skin barrier and providing protection against environmental pollutants and UV radiation.
Allantoin: moisturizing molecule that helps improve cell turnover (for clearer, brighter skin) and stimulates collagen production for firmer and youthful skin.
Spicules/Hydrolyzed Sponge: small microneedles that form microscopic channels between skin cells for enhanced moisture and improved absorption (+70%) of other ingredients which makes it perfect for ingredients such as collagen and peptides.
Gardenia extract: rich floral extract that helps enhance skin cell healing, reducing fine lines and enhancing skin barrier function for healing shine.
Shea Butter: nutrient-rich moisturizing agent that helps soothe irritation, improve hydration and creates soft, even skin tone.
Adenosine: refreshing molecule that helps enhance fine lines, boosts wound healing and revitalizes cell energy for improved texture.
PDRN: fragmented DNA that absorbs deep into skin cells to encourage cell growth and regeneration of skin matrix to improve collagen production and revived appearance.
Ceramides: small molecules that help fill cracks in skin barrier, preventing moisture loss and creates smoother, firm skin texture.
Who Should Avoid?
This cream is designed to be gentle, despite the microneedles. It's perfect for fine lines, those who need extra moisture and even sensitive skin types. It's not suited for acne-prone skin, oily skin types due to risk of causing acne breakouts or mild irritation (mostly due to the shea butter). Therefore, it's better for dry-to-normal skin types and improving moisture retention for target areas.
The Results
I have normal-to-sensitive skin, with fine lines. I'm always looking for nourishing formulas that balance gentle skincare with genuine results that result in great, healthy looks. This cream, from the formula, seemed like a great choice - balanced with brightening niacinamide and panthenol, but includes active agents such as PDRN and spicules. Previous spicule products I've tried can lead to easy irritation, redness and although there are benefits, you can struggle with the downsides. This cream perfectly balanced benefits with deeply hydrating and soothing ingredients, balanced with rapeseed and gardenia extracts which helps the cream go on smoothly and absorb gently with almost zero irritation.
Within 2 weeks of using, there was no dramatic change to my fine lines - but a good improvement to skin texture and natural glow. I used it as a spot treatment around the eyes and forehead, which improved lift and firmness and was easily used every day with no redness or inflammation. I would 100% recommend it for more sensitive skin types who are looking for the benefits of PDRN and spicules - but would warn against using in oily skin types or acne-prone skin (due to the shea butter). It's a great spot cream to treat dry spots and provides gentle relief to uneven spots.
Final Thoughts
Despite being rich in microneedles, this cream is a perfect targeting treatment that is incredibly light and non-irritating. Compared to other microneedling products, the mixture of vitamin E, shea butter and panthenol keep this spot treatment incredibly gentle and nourishing. It's safe for use around the eyes and perfect for areas you may be more sensitive about.
